There have been released 3 expansion packs for Warhawk since release;
All expansions featured a new map, and a new vehicle. And in order for the vehicle to be used with the existing maps, they also came with new layouts, though the only change was that another vehicle was added on the map.
The first expansion pack released, and maybe the most criticized as well. The featured map is very large, and with many buildings and tunnels you can move around in, so it is easy to get lost and confused. The majority of the criticism was probably the size of the map, though this is probably more related to the construction of buildings as it is very easy to get lost when navigating through them
The map is called Omega Factory, and is supposed to be an long since abandoned factory complex, where fierce fights between Chernovan and Eucadian forces takes place. There are also many vehicles placed around the map, especially Warhawk, even when compared to other maps.
The vehicle that came along with the expansion pack. Not only can the dropship carry six people, it can also bring a Jeep or Tank. The main weapons are a large set of machine guns with almost twice the firing capacity of a normal Warhawk, and covers a bigger area (with the loss of accuracy). If the dropship carry passengers, they can also man the missile turrets that are able to to lock swarm missiles on to enemy Warhawks and anti air turrets.
The armament of the dropship makes it a lethal enemy, that can cause major damage in a short time. The troop and vehicle carrying capability should also make it a primary objected when one is in the air. The weak point of the dropship is it's agility and speed. It is slow to turn and slow to move, making it a sitting duck for a skilled Warhawk pilot if it does not have an escort.
The second expansion pack released, Operation: Broken Mirror featured a huge ice map, called Vapourfield Glacier, and a new troop vehicle, the APC. It was very welcomed by the community, and highly acclaimed as one of the best released expansion by the community.
The map features a frozen glacier, where the battles revolves around the village in the center, called Olsavik Village. In area, the map is bigger than Omega Factory, but it mostly consists of vast plains making it easy to navigate, and get around. Also, the introduction of the APC makes it easy to get around.
The APC is a large troop carrying vehicle. With the high armor rating, the deadly boost capabilities and that it carries a shield generator which can be deployed anywhere makes it a allround useful vehicles. With the added bonus that troops can spawn on board a manned APC, and that they get a weapon that way, makes it a tie breaker when one team truly know how to get the maximum effect out of this vehicle.
It is not completely known why Incognito 1) included “Operation” in all 3 expansion packs. Most likely this is to bring a sense of unity, and that all expansions are connected. Another theory is that the names are related to the scrapped single player campaign of Warhawk, as many of the vehicles released in the expansions are seen in the early trailer of this. Though this is just a speculation, and has not been confirmed.
